God Bless America!

We had a great 4th of July. Words I would use to describe it: busy, fun filled, busy. Did I mention it was busy? It really was a good weekend, but I need a vacation from all the excitement. We had fun going to the Idaho Falls Parade. O.K, to be totally honest, the parade itself is LAME with a capital L, but watching Sadie cheer and wave her little flag made it all worth it. We had 2 picnics that day with my family and I do believe I gained 10 pounds by all the food I ate! Our friends came and celebrated with us and their son, Taylor and Kylie are so stinkin' cute together. I hate to admit it, but I think my 4 year old has a little boyfriend. Really, these kids are the only two of their kind. I never thougt I would meet another kid who would keep up with Kylie, but sure enough, Tay is a litte fireball! The 2 just wear you out watching them. As you can see in the picts, they had fun playing on Tay's slip n' slide, eating a whole lot of cheetos, and playing with fireworks. At the end of the night, while watching the fireworks, Kylie was snuggled up against Paul, and along comes Taylor and snuggles right up to Kylie. I would have taken a picture if I wasn't afraid it would ruin the moment. I guess it will just have to live in my memory as one of the sweetest things I ever saw! 4th of July in I.F has always been a big deal. Meleleuca puts on a big ol' fireworks show and all day down by the river are bands, food and games. It's pretty cool if you enjoy that kind of stuff. However, I must be getting old because all I wanted to do was just be with my family and enjoy a nice, relaxing holdiay. I am quickly learning though, it's not about what I want, but what the kids will have the most fun doing. To prove this, let me share a story with you about how our 4th of July ended....After the big fireworks show was over, we hopped in the car for what we knew would be a long drive home. Little did we know it would be well over an hour to get no more than 10 miles to our house. While stuck in the worst traffic we have ever been in (side note:Paul served his mission right in Chicago and has been in some pretty bad traffic)Kylie announces she has to pee. What do I do? Let her pee in her carseat? Take her into some complete strangers house? Hang her little bum out the window? Obviously, none of these seemed appropriate. Before I finish the story, let me just say, I never thought I would have to do this as a mom. Without any options, I dumped out the fruit I was taking home in a glass bowl, told Kylie to pull down her pants, and there in the back seat while enduring 4th of July traffic, Kylie peed in a glass bowl. I know! I still can't believe it. I have ran the bowl through numerous cycles in the dishwasher and let it soak in a sink full of bleach! But what would the 4th of July be without all these great memories?! I hope you all had a great weekend too!
